Antelope Valley Line Canyon Double Track Extension

Metrolink and LA Metro partnered on this project to enable regular interval scheduling of 30 minute bi-directional passenger rail service from LA Union Station to Santa Clarita, CA and hourly service to the end of the corridor in Lancaster, CA while continuing to accommodate UPRR and BNSF freight trains.

The Canyon Double Track project extends the Saugus Siding 1.5 miles with new track, a crossover, a second track bridge and signal infrastructure between Soledad Canyon Road and Golden Oak Road. The design includes an optional platform-to-platform pedestrian undercrossing configuration, improving operational flexibility and line reliability while providing the first Quiet Zone in the city of Santa Clarita.

Zephyr Rail provided engineering design, CPUC coordination, traffic engineering and remote sensing on the Double Track project.

“The Antelope Valley Line is a critical piece of our region’s transportation network.”
